Fresco at Faust Studio by Rebecca Harris

field recordings, soundwalks and recomposed sound from the phonographic collection of quadro ueberall

These pieces do not play well on the speakers of a laptop or tablet or even a smartphone.
However, playback will be brilliant if headphones or other adequate playback equipment is used.

SOUNDWALK IN HONGKONG

It's the 12th November 1998 and we are in Hongkong. Leaving the hotel room on the 14th floor, we take the elevator down to the lobby, go out into the street and head for the nearest subway station. On the subway we take a circular ride to arrive where we started!
Now we take the moving stairs up to street level, walk back to the hotel, enter the now busy lobby to take the elevator and return to the room.

The noise is transmitted directly through the building's concrete structure up to the iron handrail of the pedestrian bridge, where the sound is recorded with a modified bass guitar pickup.

Everything moves, there is no standstill.

One of the oldest recordings in this collection, it is made in an underground station in Sydney on a sunny afternoon in January 1982.
I have no recall which station it was, all i remember is a huge cave where the rails were stacked vertically in a open steel construcion.
